Building Momentum: Angels’ House Moves Toward Completion

Over the past year our second home build, Angels’ House, has transformed from a vision on paper into a nearly finished home — and every step has been powered by partnership, persistence, and community support. The home is named for our Angels — supporters who provide zero‑percent construction loans, giving us the capital to build and allowing us to pass important cost savings on to the buyer.

As we move closer to welcoming a local workforce family into this home, we’re excited to share the progress that’s brought us to this moment.

A Strong Start: Fall 2025 Milestones

We kicked off construction with a groundbreaking celebration at the end of October, gathering partners, supporters, and community members to mark the beginning of our second affordable home on the Plateau.

From there, momentum built quickly:

  • All utilities were activated on the property, preparing the site for construction.

  • The crawlspace foundation was completed, giving the home a solid, durable base.

  • By early December, framing had begun, with walls rising and the shape of the home taking form.

  • Within days, framing and roofing was completed, thanks to efficient scheduling and strong contractor partnerships.

  • Windows were already on site, ensuring we could fully dry in the home and begin installing rough mechanicals before the end of the year.

These early milestones set the tone for a smooth and steady build.

Winter Progress: Drywall, Paint, and Exterior Work

Thanks to the strong start, the home was dried in before 2025 ended, allowing interior work to continue through the winter months.

  • Drywall is installed and finished, giving the interior its first sense of shape and space.

  • Painting followed, bringing warmth and life to the rooms.

  • Cabinets were installed, bringing the kitchen to life.

  • Exterior siding was started, adding curb appeal and weather protection.

  • Flooring, generously donated by Shaw Flooring in North Georgia, was installed once cabinets were in place.

Every detail reflects the care, craftsmanship, and collaboration behind this home.

Springing Forward: Volunteers Make It Work

This spring has brought some of the most exciting progress yet — the kind that makes a house feel like a home. This spring we’ve hosted a few groups of volunteers who have helped us push the project towards the finish line:

  • Siding completed.

  • Exterior painting is complete, giving the home its finished look.

  • Interior finishes are underway, including electrical work completed, countertops installed, trim and doors finished

  • Final interior painting is taking place now.

  • Utilities are being turned on, allowing for final inspections and systems testing.

Looking Ahead: On Track for Summer Completion

We’re thrilled to share that Angels’ House remains on budget and on schedule for completion in a month! Even more exciting, preliminary work on House #3 has already begun, continuing our commitment to expanding affordable homeownership for the workforce families who keep our community strong.

Thank you to every Angel, partner, volunteer, and supporter who has helped move this project forward. Together, we’re not just building houses — we’re building stability, opportunity, and a stronger future for the South Cumberland region.
