Workforce Development

Our goal is to support the next generation entering the construction trades. We do this by breaking down barriers to entry and connecting interested employees to the training, wraparound services and experience they need to be successful. We believe that communities thrive when local talent is able to live and contribute to a vibrant community.

Understanding Construction Workforce Opportunities

  • For every 5 workers retiring from the skilled trades, there are only 2 workers entering those same professions. This skilled trade gap will continue to grow. These are also the types of jobs that cannot be replaced by advances in technology, providing long-term job security. Learn more about a potential career path in Construction here.

  • Within an hour of the South Cumberland Plateau there are multiple educational opportunities to gain training and certifications in the construction trades. Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) McMinnville and Chattanooga State Community College are two examples. For Tennessee students, these programs can often be at reduced or no cost.

  • The American Job Center offers help with not only job placement, but also support for obtaining an education. This can include stipends to help with transportation, work attire and tools and much more. Housing Hub can help you understand what resources exist and put you in touch with the right people, so please reach out if you are interested.
