Building Even More Opportunity: House #3 Is Underway
Construction has officially begun on House #3, marking an exciting new chapter in Housing Hub’s mission to expand affordable homeownership on the South Cumberland Plateau. Each home we build represents more than lumber and concrete—it’s a step toward stability, dignity, and long‑term opportunity for a local family. We are calling House #3 our Building Opportunities home - representing the opportunity that comes with homeownership and community strength. The home will be a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, cottage with 864 square feet, a smaller footprint that makes this home affordable for a bigger audience of community members who have expressed their interest in a Housing Hub home.

As we are building, we also are learning. Current affordability challenges experienced nationwide are also true in our area. Our goal is to understand our market, understand the purchasing power of working families, and bring strategies to make the opportunity for homeownership attainable for more people. House 3 represents our commitment to have a deeper understanding of our mission.
With the site prepared and early work now in motion, House #3 continues the momentum created by our first two builds. This home will follow the same community‑driven model that defines our work: strategically using professional contractors for critical tasks, supported by volunteers and partners who bring heart, skill, and sweat equity to the finishing touches.
House #3 also reflects the growing ecosystem around Housing Hub’s programs. From our housing coaching services to our Building Opportunities pre‑apprenticeship program, each initiative strengthens the foundation families need to thrive. As construction progresses, we’ll be sharing updates, milestones, and ways the community can get involved.
